What Secrets Hold the Night at Bay?

Silence as night falls.
The embers of days passing
ignites dark passions.

The Moment

Like a stubborn bloom
Living in cracks of concrete
You cannot kill hope.

Am I hopeful that Republicans will do the right thing surrounding the ACA tax credits and Medicaid cuts?

Yes, in the same way that I hope that the end users for my app are not total idiots. There's a slim chance, but I had better prepare for the opposite.

So, what these 8 moderate Democrats (and Schumer, et al) are saying is that the last 40 days were for nothing?

We're already going to primary Fetterman. I hope those in New Hampshire find their fortitude to change their senators as well.

I wish I had a girlfriend because I just want someone to tell me good job for not giving in to my love of lemon desserts and getting the lemon pie cookie from Crumbl.

I mean...there are other reasons, but that one is pretty high on the list right now.

As a Democratic Socialist, Mamdani's overwhelming victory is worth celebrating, and can be repeated across the country if those old guard geriatric corporate puppets that are mainline Democrats can learn from this.

Help or get the fuck out of the way.

Really looking forward to @governorwalz.mn.gov announcing his run for the 2028 Presidential Election. Compassionate Ethical Leadership is what this country needs.

(I know that he hasn't said anything about it, but a guy can hope)

Sorting outside my therapist's office eating a rotisserie chicken because I got busy at work and forgot to eat my lunch and left it in the work fridge for tomorrow and now I'm in the "cold sweats" phase of low blood sugar.

Don't judge. It's been a hard week and it's only Monday.

I swear, one of the worst parts about software development is after you solve a problem and have your algorithms ready to go, then you actually have to type it in.

Especially when the same thing reiterates 15 times with a single variable change each time.

Getting ready to take my daughter to see RHPS for her first time tonight.

Forgot how comfy fishnets can be.

What is a throwaway line in a movie that lives rent free in your head?

Mine is the little spiel that Tom Cruise gives in MI-3 where he explains that when someone taps their brakes in rush hour, you can see the ripple effect for 200 miles.

I think of that every time I'm stuck in my commute.

I hate when I read a book that is right up my alley and realize that it's not a complete series and I have to wait for the next one to come out.

At least the author is fairly prolific, and not pulling a G.R.R. Martin.

Oh, it's a LitRPG series called The Unintended Cultivator, by Eric Dontigney.

It is patently ridiculous that one of the reasons why I will get fast food or take out is not because I don't have food at home.

It is instead because I just want to pretend for a moment that somebody else is taking care of me.

Nothing makes me feel like I've succeeded more than when I see the spark of understanding in my daughter's eyes after we've spent time going over math she isn't sure of.

Also, that was a long ass sentence.

Had a small leak at the therapy session today. It almost was ugly, but I managed to keep it together.

Because that's what men do, right? Keep it together.

(that's sarcasm, btw, and I'm looking forward to the day I trust myself enough to let it go. That's gonna be a day.)

I sometimes wonder about other adopted kids and if they ever felt the pressure to be "better" or a model kid, like you weren't allowed to have insecurities or express trauma or you might get sent back.

Just me? Okay then.

Having a 90s morning, reminiscing what it was like to be a kid growing up in a group home, listening to Jewel and making chocolate chip waffles for the other kids.

Taylor Swift's multiple versions of her vinyl and cds remind me of the comic book heyday in the 90s when every issue had six variant covers and you weren't a true fan unless you bought them all.

Still, am I listening to The Life of a Showgirl?

Yes. Yes I am.
