Welcome to the first Mondev! Mondev is short for Monday Development, where, each week, I’ll post about something that I’m working on or thinking about in the world of game and software development. Some of these items may be devlog-style posts (I have ideas!), while others may be full tutorials.

I started a new series on LinkedIn about games, culture, and my take on it all. I’m going to try to put something out every Wednesday. If you’re interested and on LinkedIn, I’d love for you to interact!

Why I Can’t Stop Playing Dark War Survival
I’ve been playing a lot – and I mean a LOT – of the mobile RTS game, Dark War Survival, by Florere Game Limited, and I’ve been wondering why. Sure, it’s fun.

Defining Circuit, Season 1, Reflections...

Over the past several months, I conducted 20 interviews (19 aired) of little- and well-known people who make equipment for musicians. I called it Defining Circuit.

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing my pal @damiankastbauer.bsky.social about his business @pedalbrainz.bsky.social, and the amazing effects/synth expression pedals that he makes.

Check it out!

About four months ago, I completed a short-form "game poem" about relationships, reconciliation, hesitation, and bravery. I made it as an entry for the first issue of a new online magazine called Game Poems (out in October).

Hey, I made a new game! It’s simple and silly and cozy. (You currently have to play it on a computer.) Let me know how far you get…

Let’s say someone is in a theater production of the female reproductive system and they’re playing the part of the one releasing all of those who are acting as eggs… Would you call it ovary acting?

I’m a musician, so #AI tools like Suno.ai are both infuriating and fascinating. I’ve created many songs now and it’s pretty fun to witness the variety of results (my kids and I even created an entire album of songs that includes a folk song using #Yoda’s witticisms and it’s fabulous).

I’m nine chapters into a novel and shooting out new ones by the week.

It’s set in a near future, pre-cyberpunk dystopia that deals with class division and finding hope in a broken world.

Anyone out there willing to help me find an agent?

Without the full context, the last 7 years of my life was just effectively stricken from the history books of the educational institution where I work by not being mentioned in a speech christening our new computer lab. It doesn’t feel good.
