What an incredible #moonlit night out there. Took myself into the now defoliated woods, #moonlight pouring through the bare trees. Everything is different and transformed. Didn’t need a torch to see. Looped via the Iron Age Cross Dyke, and spent some time at the Neolithic Long Barrow.

Did my first #Ultra event at the weekend - complete circuit of the #Wirral, 35 miles / 57km - such a perfect day. Would do it again. Once knees and Achilles have recovered! Ran the first 23 km or so, then speed-walked the rest. #Running #WirralUltra #WirralWay #GetFit #BeatDiabetes #MentalHealth

You never know when might be the last time you see someone. And sometimes you have a feeling. Saw my cousins here a couple months ago. Lucy was very ill fighting cancer. She passed away this morning. Bless you all. Glad we had this one last catch up.

Simple dog walk around the block, notice a small #fairyring in a lawn and then a number of black protrudences. Turns out is a #fungus called #BlackEarthTongue, of which there are several varieties which can look remarkably similar. #Geoglossaceae #Mushrooms #Toadstools

Had to call in on Culliford Tree #Barrow near #Dorchester. A place of stillness and connection for me. Also some #HorribleHistories 12 people were hung, drawn and quartered in #Weymouth as part of the #BloodyAssizes after the Monmouth Rebellion in. Some remains were brought here to be displayed 😬
New #fungi for me today, taking a slightly different path (a disused parallel hollow way, deep with leaf litter and rotting wood). #GreenElfcup - Chlorociboria aeruginascens - with a good #mycelial spread on the damp underside of a rotting log. 🪵 #Mycology

#HoneyFungus, very prevalent in the woods at the moment, digesting rotting wood. Not had rain for at least a couple weeks or so now, so, the dusting from #spores is noticeable over lower #fungi fruit and surrounding surfaces. #Mycology

A first for these #fungi: Infundibulicybe geotropa, AKA trooping funnel or monk's head / and then, Amanita pantherina, also known as the panther cap, false blusher, and the panther amanita I think. Not sure of the last one, even with image searches. #Mycology #Autumn #Fall

My favourite #chimneypots - only realised they were done as symmetrical #dragons with the centre pots as their heads, and external pots as the end of the body, terminating in a tail. Never seen any pots like these anywhere. And so few will ever notice or appreciate them. #Caminology #Stroud
