Nixon started bringing the far right freaks into the fold without being one himself, Reagan cemented that they were the dominant faction of the party, but they might have been driven out if someone other than Bush led the response to 9/11, that really was the tipping point

Man, you picked out a specific building where each of the two buildings to its east are multifamily and a multiple of its size as representative!

Also, basing your appraisal of policy on how it was sold rather than its actual merits is backwards.

So 24 kids a block and a half from University of St. Thomas literally next door to two different multifamily buildings that are multiples of its size? Yeah, quite comfortable with that.

My rule of thumb is anything sold as machine learning is valuable, anything sold as AI is bullshit. I'm sure there are exceptions, but not enough to bother searching for them

As an American, I genuinely don't get why the LibDems aren't running away in a landslide. People can't genuinely still be upset over the fucking school fees pledge, can they?

Some of them were pretty good. Did they ever matter in a case where Republican electoral outcomes were on the line?

You have a much higher opinion of Scalia than is warranted
December 9, 2025 at 1:14 PM
That Scalia was right in Morrison and therefore it’s controlling precedent despite being rejected 8-1 has been an article of faith on the right for years. I still remember having a FedSoc prof at NU trying to convince us of that point a decade ago

There are approximately 800 million people in extreme poverty worldwide. $23 billion would give each of them $28.75, or a little less than 11 days extreme poverty wages (assuming no administrative costs). Zuck sucks, but let’s not pretend a single billionaire could fix the world
December 7, 2025 at 3:17 PM
OP’s argument is so clearly innumerate. There are currently roughly 800 million people living below the extreme poverty threshold of $2.66/day. $23 billion literally wouldn’t be enough to give 800 million people 11 days worth of extreme poverty wages
December 7, 2025 at 3:14 PM
Yes, it is a different bubble getting far more investment than actual use. This is a valuable point that clearly disputes something OP said, you should be proud of having pointed it out.

Well good thing that military officer didn’t overtly disgrace himself and probably put himself in legal jeopardy for murder then, otherwise this might look untoward!
