Hmmm. A number of programs don't work correctly. The common denominator is that they can all use a joystick. My 8253 emulation needs extending to deal with this, as on the MZ-700 sound & joysticks share addresses. My good enough 80K/A kludge is no longer good enough!

I've spotted a couple of things I can improve and I need to check music tempo and pitch. I also need to work my way through some more software as I have exclusively used S-BASIC, prime numbers, space invaders and moonlander to date. Still hopeful at finishing a first release by December (2/2)

Soldering iron now found, Pico 2 headers installed (probably the worst bit of soldering I've done in ages, but it works) and tuning done for the MZ-700 and MZ-80A. Just the MZ-80K to go. (1/2)

... that would depend how tricksy they get with HBLANK/VBLANK etc :D

I've been thinking of creating a custom PCB for my Pico-based MZ-80K, A & 700 emulators rather than using existing boards, like the Pimoroni & RC2014 VGA cards it runs on now. The upside would be designing a board to drive peripherals or networking, but my hardware skills are hilariously bad!

My 8255 rewrite seems to have fixed the keyboard weirdness & cursor blink speed issues on the #MZ700 emulation. It also seems to have sorted the glitches I still had with the #MZ80K keyboard. The new emulation is more efficient, so I may be able to drop the Pico clock speed another 10MHz or so ...
