Incredible interview.

@casten.house.gov is 1 of, if not the, best members of Congress on #energytransition issues. He is the type of leader we need if we’re going to figure this whole thing out. Every time I listen to him speak I get smarter. Worth the time.

This episode of Organized Money is wild.

Apparently a key driver of IOU rate inflation is the use of a very obscure modeling methodology to calculate ROE, that isnt used anywhere else in finance.

Can someone explain to me how this is real or why it’s not?

In the spring of 2002 I went to a Yankees game in NYC wearing my military uniform.

I saw very little of the game because almost every single fan in the concourse stopped to thank me for my service, and promised that we would #neverforget.

20 years is a long time.
Hell. Fucking. No.

Trump and Musk are coming for the World Trade Center Health Program.

I’m one of thousands of 9/11 First Responders that are enrolled in the program. They actually called me last week to schedule my annual appointment.

I am a former incarcerated firefighter. I served in a California fire camp from 2009 to 2012.

Misinformation is afire on the internet, so here are facts about the prison firefighter program, all in one place.

A thread.

There is no safe way to operate the electric grid in California during high winds/red flag conditions.

The only near term solution is much more aggressive use of Public Safety Power Shutoffs.

Californians need to prepare for multiple days/year without power.

That’s the inevitable outcome.

Really proud of our progress in Year 6.

Year 7 is off to the worst start imagineable.

My great hope is that this tragedy will create the sense of urgency needed to make progress faster.

My piece on Google's new partnership with Intersect Power. It isn't just another data center deal - it's a signal that the whole model of data center development is changing. Companies are now going where the power is abundant and bringing the fiber to them. bit.ly/4g8hfu1 #energysky

I truly believe the vast majority of buildings will have solar panels, co-located batteries, and electric load control tech inside the next 3 decades. We should design the 21st century electric grid around this principle.

I don’t think there is a compelling counter argument.

Something to keep an eye on:

A ton of uncertainty, but I think Ukraine is maybe on a path to attempting to build the most distributed electricity grid in history?

Potentially a huge opportunity for energy innovation?

Grid modernization is THE key to winning the AI race.

🇺🇸 has a no chance at beating 🇨🇳if we can’t 2-3X grid capacity in the next 2 decades.

If we can capitalize on bi-partisan agreement on this point, we can achieve most of our objectives without ever talking about climate.
