Even though they’re cousins and Frodo calls him “uncle,” I always liked seeing Bilbo as Frodo’s adoptive father.

He loved and cared for him, and even helped prepare him for his grand quest.

The Doors of Durin are among the most iconic images in Tolkien’s world. There are many illustrations where they are shown closed, but I wanted to capture a different moment: when the riddle is solved and the doors open.
