He/They. Another member of the Xodus, living near London.

Wants to believe as few false things and as many true things as possible.

Life is complicated. Let's start by trying to be kind to each other.
Ok. Start reading what I actually say not what you think I said and this will go better.

I'm about to be driving. We can continue tomorrow if you want.

Ok.

I've let this slide a few times but it's time to clarify.

I've repeatedly said the attack on you was wrong.

Show me one single time anywhere in this conversation where I've said it is ok to attack Jews for being Jews or retract this accusation.
November 22, 2025 at 3:11 PM
Is that victim blaming? No. Because it's not the innocent victims at fault. The people doing the attacks are at fault. The arsonist is to blame for the fires they set. But if someone keeps handing them petrol and accusing other people of setting fires too, then they share some of the responsibility.
November 22, 2025 at 3:08 PM
That's the whole problem.

And the entire point of my diagram.

Because when accusations of antisemitism are weaponised against anyone who criticizes the actions of a state then it gives a huge amount of cover for people who just want an excuse to bash their favourite targets.
November 22, 2025 at 3:08 PM
Not at all.

1. Targeting innocent individuals is wrong in either case.

2. Obviously racism does exist within antizionism. Left wing racism exist.

People are people, and a lot of people are bigots.
November 22, 2025 at 3:02 PM
To be clear, the attack is wrong regardless.

Trying to understand someone's motivations is not making excuses for their actions.

I'm not comfortable with unacknowledged uncertainty or assumptions, but raising it in this case was unhelpful to the wider discussion so shall we move on?
November 22, 2025 at 2:58 PM
Well, that's the whole problem, isn't it?

It used to be (relatively) easy. Attacking Jews is antisemitic. If I'm told someone is, it's probably true.

Now, though, if I'm told someone is antisemitic then unless I have time to look through the evidence I don't know if it's real or more smokescreen.
November 22, 2025 at 2:53 PM
Racists and Nazis and anyone else who targets people for membership of a race/religion/etc or who blames them for the actions of other members of that group.

Basically, anyone who's actually antisemitic rather than being accused of it to cover for crimes against humanity.
November 22, 2025 at 2:42 PM
Racist? No.

Have I been attacked? Yes.

I think we're getting derailed though.

I accept that this was a racially motivated hate crime. You were there, I wasn't. I don't know any of the people involved.

I was talking generally, not about this specific instance and I apologise for that.
November 22, 2025 at 2:39 PM
We may have found the disconnect.

Are you claiming that there are not people out there deliberately (or otherwise) conflating criticism of Israel with antisemitism in order to weaken or distract from the criticism?

Because we've all seen them doing it live on TV and on social media.
November 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM
I made no such assumption. In fact, I made no assumptions at all.

Your assumption that only an Arab/Muslim could have lost family members in Gaza, however, is an interesting one. Is that not what you just accused me of?

Multi-racial families exist and non-Arabs have died in Gaza.
November 22, 2025 at 1:56 PM
No. That's my way of saying that this is growing heated and I'd rather consider your points than enter into an argument.

Left-wing antisemitism exists.

Accusations of antisemitism have also been weaponised.

Two things can be true at the same time.
November 22, 2025 at 1:52 PM
All models are wrong. Some are useful.

I genuinely am sorry to hear about your experience. It must have been unpleasant and frightening. I hope they get dealt with by the authorities.

I feel this conversation is starting to go in circles so I'll think on what you've said.

Thanks for your time.
November 22, 2025 at 12:26 PM
One individual did it.

Now you're holding all supports of Palestinian's collectively responsible for individual actions.

That's one exact step in the cycle that I talked about.

Either way, I think this conversation will turn into an argument. So thank you for your thoughts. I will consider them.
November 22, 2025 at 12:19 PM
I don't know. Someone who just had their family murdered could well be angry and grieving. Or it could just be a racist.

That's my exact point. Thanks to the actions of Israel it's become bloody hard to tell the difference.
November 22, 2025 at 12:18 PM
I'm at a different point in the circle of division.

I'm the person who said "Genocide and apartheid are bad, no matter who does them", and got abused. Called an antisemite, etc.

Israel's supporters repeatedly and deliberately tried to turn me into an antisemite so they can dismiss my criticism.
November 22, 2025 at 12:13 PM
I'm sorry to hear that. That's disgusting behaviour.

But it does exactly illustrates my point.

You wear a yellow ribbon for the hostages in Gaza.

Someone who is either an antisemite or angry/grieving the atrocities uses this as an excuse to attack you.

And now you feel forced into taking sides.
November 22, 2025 at 12:07 PM
I agree, it is just my perspective.

My point is that for many people that entirely valid direct experience of antisemitism is being deliberately amplified and linked to all opposition to Israel's actions in an attempt to create fear and division and to try to smear any criticism of the genocide.
November 22, 2025 at 10:48 AM
I'm describing what I see and the experience I've had. Individuals of any group are not identical and any single graphic is going to be a massive simplification.

I've seen this exact cycle play out far too many times over the past few years, but maybe I missed something.

Where is it wrong?

5M people.

£100 each.

Turn it into a non-profit dedicated to actual journalism.

hmmm. 🤔

They're right that the backlogs and long delays are ridiculous.

This doesn't seem like the right solution, though!
