So, like, IMO we need to create a societal understanding that using these copes is bad for you, and expect adults and young people to learn that being part of society means not falling in love with a piece of software. It *should* be embarrassing!

But that's the point - I can have a lot of empathy for users of these technologies, but this is a *bad solution* to their loneliness the same way drinking heavily is a bad solution to loneliness.
Fundamentally it's a cope, but it could become a problem for both the user and, at scale, society.
