for the record i just did enough of these rituals, after the reinstall process was hung for over an hour i forceclosed it.
downloaded the installer from the website again and it just said "this install is hosed, would you like to fix it"

it seems none of these (professional) developers have heard of Telling the user when theres an issue that prevents the application from loading
