The time machine would be the new nuke for governments. You couldn't fight a conventional war when each side knew exactly what the other would do. War would be obsolete. Then we would have a war of time, governments constantly trying to change the future until they ruin it -- as always.

I need a water pump on the car. Not something I can fix because it's under the timing cover and other stuff. I miss the old days when you could replace things by yourself and didn't need to remove the whole engine just to replace spark plugs. 🤬
