Might also post pictures of my weirder cat, I guess.
Really forces the user to not use features of the language (like lazy eval).

Not worth the effort, boxes in the user, etc.

I love that it's ok to tack every bell and whistle in the world onto a n ML method and it's fine but if you make vanilla logistic regression the tiniest bit more complicated you're cheating or something.

Splines? Regularization? How dare you, sir.

You *should* care more if a library is being built. Is the mill rate going up? Are we going to bond the project? That's public money!

When someone builds on private property your right to care is vanishingly small.

If you're mostly forever chemicals, you'll live forever. Gerontologists hate this one trick!

I'm originally from WI and love the occasional Door County cherry thing, so I was feeling nostalgic. Waaay too much on its own.

Could be that my tastes have changed in my old age (mid 30s)

Speak truth to power, but not your assignment editor, I guess.

To be fair, the GOP hasn't had any time to formulate a competing healthcare reform plan since the ACA passed.

I still can't get over the fact that he's a large man, because in my mind's eye he's a tiny twink standing next to the striding colossus named Cam Newton.

It's been *years* and I can't shake it.

It's basically a "what battery system are you locked into" and you go from there. Milwaukee leaf blower locked us in and that's just who we are now, I guess.

I suppose that's possible (and the idea that I'm out of date in today's insane world is something I would buy in a heartbeat) 😐

Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is afaik considered pretty balanced, but think tanks are gonna think tank.

And of course they're sour on EU preparedness sans US involvement -- these military alliances were set up to rely heavily on US involvement!

It's a dark joke to say that no country could land boots on the ground without US logistics, but it's only sort of a joke. The integration was on purpose!

Most of these institutions tend to be hawkish (ISW for sure, CSIS, even).

Part of this is bc there's a lot of former military who think and write on these topics (eg, HR McMaster). These are people who are pro-alliances, but still tend to have a sour outlook on EU preparedness sans US involvement
