Thank you for sharing your thoughts about President Trump’s demolition of the East Wing to construct a “Trump ballroom” on the White House grounds. I appreciate hearing from you on this issue. The White House has served as the home of Presidents of the United States since 1800, when President John Adams took up residence on the property. The White House serves as both the working office and home of U.S. Presidents, and is maintained by the National Park Service. Commonly referred to as “The People’s House”, the White House belongs to all Americans, not to any one political party or president. Over the years, the White House has been renovated and updated by several presidents, with features added and removed or restored to their original design or intent. Traditionally, when the White House has been changed, the president seeks approval from the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) and the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA), in addition to seeking public comment on the proposal. For President Trump’s ballroom, none of these important steps have been taken. Trump began demolition on the East Wing without approval from the NCPC or CFA, no public comment period, and with ever-changing accounts regarding the size and scope of the demolition. What Trump initially called a small project turned out to be a total demolition of the entire East Wing of the White House. Furthermore, President Trump financed the ballroom project through solicited donations from a small group of ultra-wealthy donors and large corporations. We know some of the donors have close ties to President Trump or have business currently before, and affected by, the federal government. This raises serious questions about conflicts of interest. Because of these concerns, I joined my colleagues in calling for transparency surrounding the donors and any conflicts of interest regarding the ballroom donations and will keep pressing the administration on this latest ethical conflict. My email to my Congresspeople this morning:
Trump arranged to meet for “peace talks” with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin while EXCLUDING Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy from their negotiations. A 28-point peace plan proposed by the Trump Administration details harsh conditions imposed on Ukraine to end the war. The plan requires Ukraine to cede large portions of territory to Russia, cut their military by more than half, and imposes a permanent ban on joining NATO. Meanwhile, Russia would be allowed to return to the global economy and rejoin the G8. The Trump administration has threatened to cut support for Ukraine if they do not accept the pro-Russia deal by Thanksgiving. THIS IS BULL …. The absolute disgust I am feeling at this betrayal is sickening. America used to stand for the RIGHT side in the world.....not the worst of the worst of the world. If this doesn't show that this administration is working FOR Russia I don't know what does. Trump is compromised in some way and Putin is holding the material to have him jumping through hoops. CONGRESS MUST ACT ON BEHALF OF UKRAINE. No peace deal should bow to Putin's agenda or require Ukraine to make unreasonable concessions. Thank you for your time and consideration.

President Barack Obama established DACA for those brought to the U.S. as children until Congress could pass legislation to give those “Dreamers” a path to legal residence. Thanks to the program, Dreamers by the hundreds of thousands gave the U.S. government their personal information in exchange for a promise they would not be deported. But Congress never acted, and now, in its quest to reach 3,000 deportations a day, the administration is targeting the DACA recipients, whose adherence to the rules the government established makes them easy to find and target.

Putting Patients Over Profits Right now, billionaire health corporations are buying up independently owned health care clinics across the country, from physician practices to surgical centers. They’re invading our doctors’ offices to pad their own pockets and leave patients out in the cold. It’s happening in Oregon. In 2020, United Health Group bought Oregon Medical Group in Eugene. In the aftermath of that acquisition, Oregon Medical Group reportedly lost dozens of doctors and kicked out thousands of patients. And just last year, United Health Group bought the Corvallis Clinic -- hugely important to the mid-Willamette Valley. Jeff is doing something about it. He introduced the Patients Over Profits Act to prevent billionaire health insurance corporations from gobbling up private practices. The aim of the bill is right in the name: we need to put patients over profits! Everyone should have access to the quality, affordable health care they need, when they need it -- and that access shouldn’t depend on which Fortune 500 company owns their doctor’s office

Bloomberg reported yesterday that Argentina’s leader Javier Milei appears to have received more financial support from the U.S. government than the $20 billion more widely reported. The U.S. withdrew $870 million from its account at the International Monetary Fund shortly before a similar sum appeared in Argentina’s IMF fund just in time for that country to pay an $840 million debt. It is, one redditor noted, “turning into a scandal.”
