During wireframing and sketching, I have a sort of pre-prototype phase to try and quickly understand the relatioship between screens, states and components.

It's just a nice and quick, rough and ready way to work out how things stack together.

Anyone else do this? #UX

Is it nothing? I’m guessing it’s nothing.

My first proper games industry job was in this building - the Truman brewery on brick lane. acutely aware of the time that has passed and events that occurred between first walking through those doors and standing in front of them today.

My wife asked me what my plan was for this morning and I replied "making sure my iPod is up to date".

She replied with :

"So you're procrastinating, what should you be doing?"

Fair.

How about a Flintstone's style car, powered by foot - but the driver is like a battery-powered crash test dummy sort of thing...

It’s also a good day because I got to spend a little bit of down time with 2 of my favourite things ever.

A little bit of Final Fantasy IX on the Vita and a sunny walk listening to Any Human Heart on the iPod.

And amongst that, if you look down, you see these cute little spots squeezing themselves through the gaps that are left behind.

This place was so good. I love the idea of opening a coffee shop like this and doing something completely new with my life.

There is also ‘extra, extra massive’ , which is pretty standard in New York.

Not pictured : ‘extra, extra, extra massive’

It feels like whenever they were designing the buildings in the US, the top line of every document read ‘make it massive. No, make it extra massive’
This is the entrance of Union Station in DC.

I’ve been in the states for the last couple of weeks on my honeymoon just focussing on nothing but eating good food and drinking good coffee.

A word of advice, don’t go to CeX with @lithiumproject.bsky.social - he’ll talk you in to buying something

Really happy to be jumping from Aardman and straight in to a new project though. Day 1 on a new project after 18+ months mostly on the same tech stack / code base is incredibly refreshing.

A fresh tech spec document, a cup of coffee and some lo-fi background noise is the order of the day

As someone who is often responsible for development and design implementation, I find it super useful to be able to visualise early both the common and individual elements of an app.

I tend to do this by doing a colour (sorry, Americans) coded pass of lo-fi designs.

Digging through the 'arhives' for older projects. Here is some gameplay from 'Golf! Everywhere!' that I made over the course 4 weeks NINE YEARS AGO

I took January off socials, so I've been thinking all month about how amazing my first post of 2025 is going to be.

Here it is... A bad screenshot of a lo-fi figma layout of an app I'm planning to build.

I've properly started up my job searching again. I've got an excel sheet that I used to log everything I've applied for. After capturing all the important details I always put a little personal note at the end...

Doing a bit of website updating this evening. I paused the ol' 'find a job to afford to live' thing over the last month or so, but something (and by something I mean waves of anxiety) tells me I should go back to focussing on it...
