I bet when I do watch it again - maybe this reminder will push me to do so once I'm unpacked - I'd have a lot of the same affection I did back in 1997 when it first came out.

And Joey Lauren Adams is just so lovely in the movie even though it ultimately became an albatross for her.

When I see the lonely Criterion of CHASING AMY between VAGABOND and BRIEF ENCOUNTER on my shelf I want to be pissed but can't, want to love Smith for trying to do something positive but can't, want to be indifferent and forget it but can't, want to rewatch but can't. (Haven't since maybe 2012/2013.)

Given how easily audiences will accept so many other complete suspensions of belief, I'm convinced much of that aversion, often demonization, comes from how terrified humans still are by our blink-of-an-eye proximity to our four-legged (and no-legged) ancestors.

The Senate is 53/45/2 (53/47). If two GOP resigned the split would be 51/47. Even if replaced by Democrats it would still be 51/49 GOP majority.

The House is 219/213. If two GOP resigned the split would be 217/213. Even if replaced by Democrats it would still be 217/215 GOP majority.

Also, one of the prompts definitely needs to be "A film everyone loves that you hate so much you'd like to see the writer and director in prison for making it."

It seems like most everything I've wanted to see on the big screen this year played for a week and a half and the other 80 percent never played at a theatre anywhere near me at all.

LAMB was my first movie in the theatre after lockdown was lifted. There was only one other person in the theatre at a 7:00 PM showing and she left about halfway through.

That's a great lineup. I think I might be able to join starting on the 12th. (Stuck in a blizzard in Billings MT at the moment and didn't make it in time tonight. [Sad emoji.])

I think it’s time we stop pretending the Republican Party has ever been anything but the white supremacy party of grift and greed. They’ve been dismantling the public education system, protecting christofascists and harming the planet for decades. Come on now.

It's because not one person in that room, just like with "Quiet, Piggy," has a problem with him doing that. It's not cowardice, it's active, knowing complicity.

Anyone who was actually bothered by a fellow journalist being called stupid said something in real time, to him, on camera.
