Anyone can buy ICE BP knock off vests on Amazon and put on a gator. They can lock and load, climb into a black SUV and start terrorizing a neighborhood with no repercussion because local law enforcement tell us they can’t require someone who claims to be federal law enforcement to prove it. ENOUGH

The idea that we needed a court to rule on that is ludicrous.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — US judge rules federal officers in Minneapolis-area immigration operation can’t detain or tear gas peaceful protesters.

Not surprising given a federal government doubling down on patriarchy and misogyny. Women are being left behind. Again. www.forbes.com/sites/hollyc...

This was not present-day America.
This was Germany in 1933. Before the camps were full. Before the war. Before the word Nazi carried its final meaning.
When people say “don’t call MAGA Nazis,” history replies: if the shoe fits…

Ordinary people adapt. They avoid certain topics. Stop defending risky friends. Learn when to look away. “Politics isn’t my business,” they say. Life continues, which becomes proof, to them, that nothing fundamental has changed.

Observers argue endlessly about what’s happening. Some say the leadership is moderating. Others warn it’s getting worse. Many insist it can’t go too far. This is a modern society, they say. There are courts. Laws. Institutions. Traditions. Surely there are limits.

Teachers are dismissed. Civil servants are replaced. Clergy are warned to stay out of public life. Some comply. Some don’t. Those who don’t begin to disappear. Each step is labeled temporary. Emergency measures always are.

One day, certain businesses are marked. Not closed by law. Just boycotted. Doctors lose patients. Lawyers lose clients. Shops stand empty. It’s framed as discipline, not discrimination. Just a message. Just for now.

Newspapers still print every morning, but something shifts. Certain stories disappear. Certain words stop appearing. Editors learn which lines not to cross. Reporters learn that curiosity has consequences. Everything sounds calmer. Flatter. Safer.

Uniformed men begin arriving at night. Not everywhere. Just enough that everyone hears about it. People are taken without warrants or charges. The phrase used is “protective custody.” It sounds bureaucratic. The bruises don’t.

Then someone nearby vanishes for a few days. When he comes back, he looks hollowed out. He won’t explain where he’s been. People lower their voices when his name comes up. Someone says, “He must’ve done something wrong.”

There is violence, but it’s described as controlled. Temporary. Only aimed at “dangerous elements.” Most people don’t see themselves in that category, so they accept the explanation. It’s easy to believe danger is reserved for others.

I don’t think this can be said enough: If there is no accountability to show a badge or warrant, then anyone…ANYONE can suit up, drive an SUV, lock and load, and start assaulting people anywhere for any reason. Local law enforcement and the National Guard have to get involved. #NOICE

Most people don’t know what people say about them in their absence. If you only knew that the whispers and words said about you are full of love, respect, and honor, how would that change the way you feel about yourself, your friends, and community? I’m going to start letting people know.
