Having the same thought - bad news for our streets if even 1/3 of the zipcar users now decide they need to own. Very short sighted from councils imho, who charged a fortune for parking spots

Yes and £1000 would be on the cheap end. Some boroughs like Greenwich made an effort but most didn't.

Most councils depend on parking revenue so are reluctant to lose it. All links to wider problem of them having lost about 1/2 of their funding since 2010

Very disappointed. Local authorities made no effort to support, charging £0000s for the annual permit (vs 100 quid for a private car).

I used it for trips to the dump, taking the beast to the vet, dropping off 50kg of mistakenly ordered sedum at a friend's garden. Etc.

Do I have to buy a car now?

India has traditionally been seen as a laggard. Great news. Media hype about "backlash", following an obsession with the USA, is consistently shown to be built on sand.

The US even saw an *increase* by 9% of major companies announcing net zero targets this last year.

Challenge the narrative!
