I added a comment to the post outlining the error. I don't have the time or energy to follow up on this further. Ill be more rigorous in the future.

That sounds very likely to be true. Whoops. I just found this online and quickly reposted it. What should I do now do you think?

Very true. Paine was too silent about slavery in public.

Haha! He is a fascinating character, not just for his work in the US but for his long and tragic later life fighting for Poland.

Evidence is coming... check back in Spring 2026. Princeton Press University wont allow us to release the findings until the Collected Writings Project is published. 400 newly discovered works of Paine will be released.

Very interesting. Let me know if you want to write about the problems with the current system on Democracy Chronicles. Always happy to have more people discussing election reforms on there instead of just "I hate Trump". We have a tag for Political Debates that could use some new content!

They just dont allow competition first off. And I do think the debate format doesnt help encourage discussion. Although concern about the danger of a sweet talking debater winning the crowd goes back to ancient athens at least. Trump IMHO just had the pleasure of debating lightweights, he wasnt good

I started Democracy Chronicles in 2011 to encourage discussion about everything election law and theory but the project has lost steam and is a shadow of its former self. You seem like an interested fellow though. I hate when the Dems only have 4 candidates on stage for pres. Debates are broken.

It's all very interesting. I will run it by our experts, namely our president Gary Berton, who posted this sneak peak about the Collection last year regarding USA. What is your main project btw? Fixing debates? I have always been interested in fundamental election reforms like this.

I dont have all the info from our Collected Writing Project, they are secretive because Princeton doesn't want to spoil the release. But let's just say it is possible Paine was Republicus. He wrote secretly often and our expert group is working to identify which writing is his.

very interesting. im not seeing a link to the article by Moylan itself, just the short image of an exerpt. I'd like to see it if you have access. From first glance it doesnt seem like a proposal to name the nation but just the first use of the words strung together.

The Collected Works of Thomas Paine is coming and this info regarding the letter is going to be included. This is a sneak peak. In Spring 2026, Princeton University will release the collection including almost 400 newly discovered works previously unknown. thomaspaine.org/the-collecte...
