All of these students were communicative and asked what work they needed to do to make up for what they would miss. And honestly the fact that one of their first instincts is to ask about *homework* is kind of heartbreaking.

I literally teach college writing. My students are allowed to write about anything they want, and I tell them they're free to write about things that I disagree with. And they get good grades on those papers (if they're well written). They even cite the Bible!

Yes! TV lists are great because I get to go, "I've heard of that but just didn't get around to it. I should watch it!"

I love having year-end lists (and awards nom lists) introduce me to things I don't know about.

But as someone who lives in the middle of the country, they also make me feel left out because of all the things I never even had the chance to see. My frustration is with the industry, not the list.
