Visibility as well. So many US intersections require drivers to creep into/through crossways just to see. Thoughtless design and implementation.

And just use traffic circles instead of intersections. Automatic traffic calming, fewer stopped and idling cars, more efficient traffic flows, perhaps cheaper to construct and so on.
