I don't think it made it on to the handout but I do discuss family-resemblance approach as one anti-essentialist approach! And I don't know Jacobson's work so thank you for the pointer, will look!

I think that's right--I started with daoism because that's what I knew, but it didn't have to be Daoism and ideally a project like this would fold in other traditions too! At the same time I think Daoism is a good place to start because its metaphysics is so different. Allows for immediate contrasts
