The other one is to study lighting setups from REALLY GOOD photographers. There's a lot of content on that and it helps a lot seeing how to organize light and shadow from them because that's their job basically. I got that one from Dan dos Santos.

I usually do either an exercise I got from Sinix where you try to simplify a image with good lighting in 2 values and then you gotta pick which value gets the third one. It's essentially a choice of exposure. You can expose light and dark. It's gotta be one or the other.

It hurts to hear that even as pros. Someone reached out to me once about lighting and I dumped a thousand exercises for lighting on the poor guy and he almost gave up :v
