"I've heard a lot of people saying it was night and day, and really it was in terms of the performance level."

Half time, 1-0 #readingfc!

Wing has us ahead after a stop-start 45 mins. Looking comfortable enough and played some good stuff at times, but not dominating as much as we'd want.

Encouraging start to the Richardson era though.

"He has to get this group working and he has to do that quickly for us to pick up results."

@mrblthomas.bsky.social is happy #readingfc have moved quickly to bring in a new manager, with Leam Richardson installed in the dugout this afternoon.

Difficult one to sum up really.

#readingfc deserving of the 3-1 win and played well in parts, but an inconsistent display again (a recurring theme this season), even when playing much of the game against 10

"All in all, good night's work, not massively high on the entertainment."

@mrblthomas.bsky.social has his say on a 3-1 win for a young #ReadingFC side over West Ham's u21s.

Half time: 2-2!

What an absolute rollercoaster of a half that was 😂

Great start from #ReadingFC, conceded against the run of play, faded, conceded again and then looked rubbish. Really, really rubbish.

THEN a Fraser rocket makes it 2-1, Reading gain confidence and Marriott makes it 2-2.

A deadline day signing!

#ReadingFC have forked out an undisclosed fee to Derry City for Sean Patton, a 19yo striker. He spent time on trial with the Royals during the trip to Ireland.

Patton's signed a two-year deal and goes into the under-21 squad.

Seen much worse, but that was overall an unconvincing, disjointed #ReadingFC performance

Better side (against a poor Vale team) and deserved the 1-0 win, but we've still got a long way to go

BUT

Lane magic + a first clean sheet of the season = a confidence booster and the lil run being continued

Half time, 0-0

#ReadingFC the better side and have had chances, but on the whole too often disjointed and sloppy

Frustrating, stop-start game
August 30, 2025 at 2:54 PM
Full time, 2-1 #ReadingFC, and we're into the next round!

A very mixed bag performance wise: when we were good, we were v good. Two excellent goals (Fraser from range, Camara at the end of a delightful team move)

Some much less convincing bits, particularly in 1st half, but we got the job done!

Smaller attendance yes, the cup's lost a lot of its magic yes, but I do enjoy games like this one

Fun opportunity to see a very different #ReadingFC XI (much stronger 'B team' than we've had in recent years) and the possibility of continuing a cup run

Wouldn't say today's game is a must-win necessarily, but we do defo need some progress from previous games performance-wise

The Bolton display was horrid - #ReadingFC's worst of the season - but being able to dig a result out in that game could well be a catalyst for broader improvement

Bit of a robbery tonight really

#ReadingFC well off it and took ages to even get into the game. More ruthlessness from the hosts and this would have been an ugly loss

A 2-1 loss to Wimbledon is the main agenda when the lads record next.

Thoughts on the game? How are you feeling about #ReadingFC as a whole? Are you hitting that big large button that says “worry” or can we turn it around quickly?

Let us know below.

A big, BIG performance on the road gives #ReadingFC a deserved 2-1 win in the League Cup

Much changed side, but they were excellent tonight. Delighted for Garcia getting his first goal in particular

Noel Hunt has some selection headaches ahead of Saturday!
August 12, 2025 at 8:46 PM
Half time, #readingfc 0-0 Hudds

Tight, difficult game so far. Royals working really hard out of possession and have restricted Hudds to one really good chance (Pereira equal to it)
