Football isn’t just ninety minutes — it’s culture, kits, rivalries, and cult heroes.
I write about the stories that outlive the scoreline: the shirts, the derbies, the folklore, the icons.

As of this morning, 1. FC Köln have sold over 41,000 tickets for their U19's UEFA Youth League game against Inter Milan on Wednesday, 4th Feb (kick-off: 6pm) - a new record.

The previous record for a Youth League fixture was 40,368 for Tabzonspor vs. Inter in April 2025.

I'd urge people to watch the u21s in this tournament and the u18s in the FA Youth Cup.

There are so many exceptional players at both levels. Everton have to look after this lot properly.

Crystal Palace packed a month’s worth of misery into a week — FA Cup exit, captain gone to City, manager announcing his summer departure, and a 2–1 defeat to Sunderland just to round things off.

Football isn’t escapism. It’s a weekly ritual disguised as chaos. A place to gather, complain, hope, and pretend we’re not checking the table every 20 minutes.

Macclesfield knock out holders Palace to create the biggest FA Cup shock of all time!

Earlier in the week we highlighted Wrexham vs Nottingham Forest as our early FA Cup game to watch and it certainly delivered.

In todays early kick off, can Macclesfield, the Phoenix club of Macclesfield Town, create the biggest shock of the round at home to last seasons winners Crystal Palace?

Two hours of unfiltered FA Cup madness. Wrexham and Forest trading blows all night. It’s going to be settled from the spot.

There’s a particular kind of fear in the FA Cup when the TV cameras cut to a tiny away end and you can feel the giant‑killing brewing through the screen.

There's a unique kind of dread when your centre-back starts dribbling into midfield with purpose.

The Barclaysman series is my love letter to the cult heroes — the folklore merchants who made the Premier League feel like a weekly fever dream.
One of my favourites is Tim Cahill: Everton's Corner Flag Boxer
