Even though I ended up building most of it myself, it was a joy for her to be able to be part of a creative process the resulted in something beautiful. I’m glad that I’ll always be able to remember the smile on her face when she was able to select the right brick & click something into place.

… fun, & allow me to also assess her pattern recognition & fine motor skills. Slowly, over the course of that Advent season, we followed each page of instructions & built the house with all its trimmings. It was clear that she was struggling, but she was also determined to participate & contribute…

She always loved it when I showed her the things I built with legos as a child, & laughed when I told her about the “adult” Lego sets that were available. As she started to really exhibit her decline into dementia in 2023, I decided to try & engage her in an activity that would be collaborative…

This incredibly detailed 1400+ piece #lego Christmas house is not only intricately beautiful, but it brings back wonderful memories of one of the last Christmases that I had with my mom…

They were used in harsh desert climates, like Tatooine, during the Imperial Era. The old and battered X-34 which he made extensive use of to travel through the planet’s deserts, leaving the craft sand-pocked and sun-faded, and missing its portside turbine cowling.

This is an accurate representation of the what was in the move. The dots behind the windshield are meant to represent Luke (white) and C3-PO (yellow).

From Wookipedia: “X-34 landspeeders were utilized as civilian transports perfect for traveling smoothly over even the roughest terrain.

ieces! To … ?
Day 7! (OMG I ❤️ THIS) - Luke Skywalker’s X-34 landspeeder. A New Hope (1977) Introduced us to this amazing craft. It’s such a small micro build, yet so true to the movie. You might have noticed the imbalance in the rear engines in the model.

Day 6 : The Marauder Omicron-class shuttle. First see in the animated show The Bad Batch (2021), this nicely articulated spaceship micro build really shows off the trend of moveable wings/control surfaces.

Day 5: B1 battle droid! This little guy is another very detailed model, although there is not any independent articulation in the legs. These droids first appeared in The Phantom Menace in 1999.

I’m playing a bit of catch up from the last few days. The pressure of putting together Chester’s Advent Reels was intense! So here’s Day 5 and 6 of the Lego Star Wars Advent calendar:

Sometimes I find winter colours to be the most beautiful. Minimalist expression delivering maximum impact. #photography #winter #nature

And on the 6th day of Advent more cronch was had by Chester. I’m thinking that he can’t wait for @revdaniel.bsky.social to get home so he doesn’t have to deal with all the props and theatrics. #DailyChester #sheepadoodle #advent #christmas #dogsofbluesky

“Hello! My name is Chester. I’m cream coloured, but I want to be a brown dog, so I will find as much sand and dirt to plan and lie in as possible.” #DailyChester #sheepadoodle

Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 4!

Another spacecraft from Attack of the Clones is behind today’s window. This Acclamator-class assault ship follows the wedge shape designs of many of the battleships in the Star Wars universe….

For Chester carnage and chaos is very seasonal tonight. RIP Rudy the Reindeer. #DailyChester #sheepadoodle

Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 3!

We’re back to spaceships for today’s build! This is a micro build of a Droid tri-fighter, a 3-pronged attack craft, first appearing in Revenge of the Sith (2005). It’s always interesting to see how the LEGO designers engineer models with angles…

Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 2!

This is a minifigure of a Phase 1 Clone Trooper Commander. Looking like a normal clone trooper, the yellow highlights designate him as a commander. There is very detailed printing on the helmet & all over the body. He comes with a short handheld blaster…

#Lego #StarWars Advent Calendar - Day 1!
This is a Republic Gunship, officially designated as a Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry (LAAT/i). You may recall seeing Jedi and clone troopers standing in the hold of this ship with the doors on both sides open (see the square gap in the model)…

It’s seems like such a waste to throw metal into the garbage, but right now there’s just no #recycling in @toronto.ca that accepts them. I checked and the municipality advice is: garbage. I keep finding random key rings with sets of keys at my dad’s place ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ahhhh…. It’s the annual purge of the “random esoteric cable connectors that I might need one day for that thing I ordered from that Etsy shop in Turkmenistan that I can’t find but I’m sure I didn’t throw away” drawer. Here’s the list of the types of things I found. My rule is that I keep 1 of each.
