Which streamers should you keep, cut in December 2025?
With the holidays approaching fast, we’ll detail which streamers you should absolutely hang onto this month, and which you can cut to save a little.
With Christmas just a few weeks away, now is the best time of year to think about how you can save a little money. Maybe you’re thinking you need to cut a streaming service or two out of your month’s budget to be able to afford that extra gift or two, but you’re not sure which one to ditch.
After all, many streamers save their best TV show and movie releases for the end of the year, and missing out on those titles because of an untimely cancellation would be a true shame. Luckily, The Streamable is here to go through a list of the top streamers you should hold onto this month, and which you can cancel safely without fearing you’ll miss an important streaming moment.

Streamers to keep in December 2025
Netflix
As it did in November , Netflix tops our list of streaming services to keep in December 2025 — and for the same reason. “Stranger Things ” Season 5 is releasing its second Volume on Dec. 25, and the feature-length series finale is set to air on the service on Dec. 31. For fans who have been waiting years for the show to return at all, let alone to see how it concludes, there’s really no argument to be made for leaving Netflix in December.

This month will also see the return of a character — or show? — that people love to hate. “Emily in Paris ” Season 5 comes to Netflix on Dec. 18. The end isn’t in sight for this series, either, as Netflix has already renewed it for a sixth season that will be released on a later date.
There’s a long list of other titles to stream on Netflix during the month of December, including series premieres like “Badly in Love ” on Dec. 9, the second season of “The Accident ” on Dec. 10, and the original film “The Night My Dad Saved Christmas 2 ” on Dec. 6. With all of those new titles to watch during December, there’s no chance we could recommend canceling the service with a straight face this month.

Disney+
Disney+ hasn’t made the list of streamers to keep for a couple of months, but it’s back in our good graces in December. The headlining title of the streamer this month is the new season of “Percy Jackson & The Olympians ,” which will adapt “The Sea of Monsters” book from the book series of the same name. “Percy Jackson” Season 2 is being released on Disney+ on Dec. 10, with the first two episodes debuting on that date.

Swifties will also need to keep an eye on Disney+ during December, as the streamer will debut the docuseries “The End of an Era ” on Dec. 12. This limited series will chronicle the behind-the-scenes journey of Taylor Swift through the conclusion of the Eras tour, giving fans a chance to get close to Swift in a way they never have before.

Apple TV
It’s been quite a while since Apple released its hit movie “F1 ” in theaters. The film first debuted in cinemas way back at the end of June, but it’s finally coming to Apple TV to stream with a subscription on Dec. 12 — 168 days after its original theatrical release. The movie was such a success for Apple that it convinced the company to acquire real Formula 1 rights , and now it will become available to watch on demand.
Coming to Apple TV even earlier is the special “The First Snow of Fraggle Rock,” which viewers of all ages will enjoy. When the Fraggles get only a single snowflake instead of a lovely fall, the entire season is thrown off. Will they be able to put their holidays right?

Streamers to cancel in December 2025
HBO Max
While I don’t anticipate it being on this end of the list for long, HBO Max doesn’t really have any huge releases to pay attention to in the month of December. No “Game of Thrones ” spinoffs, no DC Studios TV shows, and no new blockbuster movies are slated to arrive on the streamer this month, and though “IT: Welcome to Derry ” will wrap up on Dec. 14, there aren’t a lot of other big-name titles to draw the eye on the streamer this month.

Peacock ’s release slate in December is essentially as bare as that of HBO Max. It may have more sports available, but those events are also available on linear TV, and viewers will have to wait for big-name franchises or huge movie releases from Universal to hit Peacock. Save yourself $11 (or more) in December and circle back to Peacock at a later time.
