I was cooking in my kitchen when you busted out that bottle, and I screamed "no!" out loud. I tried to reach into my podcatcher to save you, but I was unsuccessful.

Aroma: both have black and red fruit, but the zin was blackberry, while the Primitivo cherry.

Palette: fruit, but zin is pepper and earth; Primitivo is leather. Zin felt more ripe, bold, and zippy, while the Primitivo was softer and more round.

Same estate, but different blocks. Pretty cool!

My local shop had one Primitivo, and not from Puglia, so I opted to enjoy with a glass of Sonoma Zinfandel instead. It worked!

I knew they were genetically the same, which I thought meant they were EXACTLY the same, until I found a winery here that produces both side by side.

They. Are. Not. 🤯
