That said the area itself is very conservative, eastern Washington broadly, and north Idaho of course, are incredibly conservative. Spokane is trending blue and I think it sets the stage for an interesting clash between the furthest right elements of our politics and everything to the left of that.

We just elected a decently progressive Democrat as mayor, the previous mayor was pretty far right. Historically the congressional representative is Republican but I think Spokane proper votes pretty blue, just not enough to outweigh the surrounding more rural areas in the district.

The main goal is to rid them of their own platform and if extending your own is in some small way, even just potentially, in service of that, I think it’s worth it.

Like no love for Taylor and I think it’s totally self serving to drive clicks and views. That’s a problem but that’s different than “platforming” someone, which is just nonsensical to me when that person has a platform that shapes legislation and reaches millions daily.
