It’s highly relevant, I think. The problems they cause are obvious and a great many people hate them. Yet SUVs are selling in record numbers. If they weren’t, there wouldn’t be an issue at all. I suspect many drivers hate SUVs *when other people use them* but enjoy having their own.

You seem rather angry. So would you rather we didn’t look at the issue? And do you not think it is highly relevant that SUV sales are soaring, despite the obvious issues caused by cars getting bigger?

Hi. My understanding is JLR may help some key suppliers, but with no money coming in is unlikely to be able to bail out everyone. The argument is that the sector as a whole makes a significant economic contribution, so taxpayer funding to prevent a swathe of bankruptcies would be money well spent.
