Symmetry breaking governs equilibrium physics, while dynamical symmetry restoration shapes nonequilibrium phenomena like the quantum Mpemba effect. Our new preprint explores how long-range interactions tune the interplay between the two: arxiv.org/abs/2510.12875 @leverhulme.ac.uk

Our recent @physrevb.bsky.social Letter and Editors' Suggestion demonstrates the ubiquity of the quantum Mpemba effect in many types of quantum systems. Majorana fermion is an elusive particle that is its own antiparticle. We used the new technique of the "fuzzy sphere" to show how the Majoranas can emerge in a quantum Hall bilayer system tuned to criticality. @leverhulme.ac.uk

Regularizing 3D Conformal Field Theories via Anyons on the Fuzzy Sphere
Simulations on a fuzzy sphere show that 3D Ising critical behavior persists even in fractional quantum Hall states, revealing a powerful method for studying conformal field theories amid topological o...

Recently, the Mpemba effect -- hot water freezing faster than cold one -- has attracted much attention in quantum physics. In arxiv.org/abs/2505.17181 we argue that this effect is ubiquitous in a wide range of quantum systems and propose its simple diagnostic. @leverhulme.ac.uk

Delighted to announce our paper has just been published in Communications Physics - where we elucidate the mechanism behind some intriguing phenomena in the strong-coupling limit of a 1D lattice gauge theory.
