ok in that case im sure you have the skills to do what you want. anyway, put the pico8 lazydev channel and javidx on your bookmarks, maybe will help you at some point.i am not related to those channels in any way hahagood luck & dont doubt to ask me 4 help..i will answer if i know the answer haha
October 20, 2025 at 11:19 PM
if you tell me -if you want ofcourse haha- what do you know, i can be more precise.
October 20, 2025 at 7:20 PM
but if thats the case, once you get some pico8 agility, moving to sgdk is almost straight forward (ofcourse lua is not c but the learning curve gets less harder than starting from 0 on c) and then, getting some interruption examples on asm or porting ideas from chibiakumas yb channel is easier.
October 20, 2025 at 7:19 PM
no no,pico8 is just a way to know how games are done close to 16bit era,an easy way to start coding games. made in lua. no asm. as i dont know your background, i thought that tell you to start here if 0 knoweledge is far better to go asm at first. but if you already know the basics then dismis that.
October 20, 2025 at 7:15 PM
you are welcome. im not an expert at all, but i know how i arrived where i am so i can show my way. maybe there are better learning paths. mine is just one among others. good luck ;)

ah... i forgot... despite he uses it's own lib, almost all the concepts managed on his videos are good to know

the main advantage is that each cartridge from the community can be opened to see the code. and there are some interesting works.

if you start almost from 0,go buy pico8 or use a free version and follow any tutorial of this channel.i would go with that www.youtube.com/watch?v=81WM...
follow it and i think it can help you if that's the case-even if you have good programming skills but never coded a game.let asm for the future.

if you have a good programming level,i mean, at algorithm or pseudo code level better than on a single languaje-not strictly necessary-go to www.youtube.com/@ChibiAkumas it's a quite barroque but has all you need and some good examples, but good programming level required if dont wanna get frustrated

asm can be fun and there's a point when you understand and all start to make sense, like neo with the green lettersXDthe bad point for me is the long time required to do even simple things, but is as flexible as c or any 3rd level lang can be,its just that it requires more detail on step. ->
October 19, 2025 at 10:48 PM
well... don't let that stop you. this is my first game on the platform and i did not make so much on others. a completely rookie. if you trust me, start to do some stuff on pico-8 like virtual console and you will have what you need thanks to the big community and SGDK. 'come on, start something! ;)
October 10, 2025 at 2:05 AM
better? sure? haha thanks a lot. im the most hyped person in the world with my own game haha i mean, i need to release something called game demo asap... but man, its hard being one man project and learning on the way. thanks for your words, i'll try to meet the expectations ;)

so, once the assets get simplified and some tricks i want to add for the up and down effects, so just a tilemap rect gets updated instead the whole animation makes me think my concern about dma flux can be almost cleared.
October 7, 2025 at 3:05 AM
his video shows a dma stress situation i wanted to test. a large "complicated" tilemap for the bg, 44 frames per each tower and the usual top and bottom effect. i guess im starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. or just a mirage XD
