There are some settings for that extension, filter the settings UI with this: @ext:streetsidesoftware.code-spell-checker.

The Files or Enabled Files Types may be helpful for restricting behavior.

Hmm do you have a separate spell checking extension? Or have you installed Positron +1e extension pack with "Code Spell Checker" extension?

I don't believe spell checking is available out of the box but in source code you will get warnings for undefined symbols.

Positron is in general availability with stable releases on desktop and Posit Workbench.

Positron Assistant is still in preview.
