and because this genuinely looks like a whole other species and is the most amazing thing we’ve seen here in our ten years being bush dwellers, have A BABY ECHIDNA! so baby it hasn’t grown spikes yet. our dog dropped it on our deck one day entirely unharmed. looks a bit like raw chicken

not the best photo i have of an echidna, but shows how close they come to the house. this one is just hanging around outside our door like it wants to get let in. they are pretty big. v spiky. much cool

first we get LOTS of these. kangaroos hang out around our house in loose packs and often have joeys. they are very cute

my daughter chose The Fallen Angel by Alexandre Cabanel, painted in 1847. she chose this because, let’s face it, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree and she’s also drawn to the male figure, intense emotion and romanticism, especially if she can imagine it being gay (i’m a great influence!) 4/
