Asking the favorite band question to politicians is generally considered a waste of bandwidth but John Edwards absolutely froze on the question in a debate and it was an unexpected early sign that he could learn a message but brought no useful human qualities to the table.

I thought “making the barista write a weird right-wing name on the cup” was the lowest form of this but “immediately making it so no one wants to talk to me” is really a much purer distillation.
