Randomly noticed that one of my Bluesky friends had mentioned that THE RETURN OF COUNT YORGA was a thing, so I immediately ran to it with open arms (having loved the first one). Such a wise decision that was! It’s fun, has some great surprises and boy was it gorgeous…

The beauty of the “auto-subtitles on for 10 seconds after backing up” feature on some streaming services is that you occasionally get a great set of words on screen - like this one for instance from Sexy Beast:

Say what else you will about MODESTY BLAISE, but the set and production design goes pretty hard sometimes...And Bogarde's oversized beverage glasses are amazing.

MODESTY BLAISE is a teeter totter of a film as it bounces from horrible to pretty fantastic over and over - but it never gets better than Dirk Bogarde's glasses. Spectacular wardrobe choice.

The Immersive Van Gogh exhibit was pretty decent, but I have to say I wasn’t fully prepared for the “And now we make the walls bleed…” moment. THAT was cool.

Even though the animation in the 1984 DELTA SPACE MISSION is sometimes only a step above the old Rocket Robin Hood cartoons, the glorious colours, gorgeous background paintings and occasional inventive creatures make it a worthwhile 70 minutes. Leaves Criterion Channel tomorrow.
