Maybe I'm wrong, I've never encountered the guy before, but these two posts make me feel like he's not talking about Bluesky writ large so much as his own carefully curated, "apolitical" feed, which is likely mostly middle- and upper-class, white and male. And I'm saying this as a white male.

Good evidence suggests the news is high engagement and miserable. Soup to nuts, reading, reblogging, grandstanding, it's all miserable unless you're actually planning for IRL. Post 2: I can avoid a lot of it, Bluesky's protocol (AT), it lets me tune into science, art, conversation, and the kind of debate I think moves ideas. But, we're mostly lefty / centrist dad types, most of us are chill. I've noticed some of you aren't though! Go forth brave debate bros! For how long?

Meanwhile, former president Jack Ryan is in the middle of his presidential campaign and ahead at the polls. Even though his opponent and successor Ed Kealty publicly reveals the capture of the Emir in their second presidential debate in a desperate attempt to win voters, Ryan opposes his plan to a public trial for the terrorist. The resulting turnaround in public opinion enrages Czech billionaire and Kealty supporter Paul Laska, later launching a vendetta to discredit Ryan six weeks before the presidential election. Laska's progressive organization provides the Emir with a legal defense team. After CIA deputy director Charles Sumner Alden identifies Campus operatives John Clark and Domingo "Ding" Chavez from the Emir's rough sketches of the men who captured him, Laska enlists the help of SVR officer Valentin Kovalenko for collecting information about the former's CIA activities. Kovalenko uncovers Clark's unauthorized assassination of an East German Stasi operative in Berlin in 1981, which is not part of the full presidential pardon Ryan had signed for his friend and making him accountable for murder. Laska covertly gives the dossier to Kealty, who then orders the FBI to hunt down Clark.

Meanwhile, former president Jack Ryan is working on his memoirs and initially refusing to speak out against his successor, Ed Kealty. When he finds out that the Kealty administration are planning to prosecute U.S. Army Ranger Sam Driscoll for killing sleeping Middle Eastern terrorists in a cave during their fruitless search for the Emir, he decides to announce his candidacy for President of the United States in the next election. After the announcement, charges against Driscoll are dropped and he was given an honorable discharge. Clark later recruits him into The Campus. Additionally, Ryan finds out that his son Jack Ryan, Jr. is working for The Campus as an analyst, which he reluctantly accepts.

Looking at the summaries of his later books, I'm pretty sure he was trending MAGA. In 2003's The Teeth of the Tiger he's got Jack Ryan setting up an off-the-books, no-oversight intel unit funded by insider trading on intel info, because the next admin was going to "neglect" CIA & NSA

The murder piques the interest of the Campus, an off-the-books intelligence agency created by former United States president Jack Ryan before the end of his presidential term. Situated in a high-rise office building that has direct line-of-sight between the main headquarters for the CIA and the NSA, the organization was created to "identify, locate, and deal with terrorist threats" in anticipation of the current administration's neglect of the CIA and the NSA. A private trading and arbitrage company, Hendley Associates, serves as a legitimate front for the Campus by funding its operations via stock market trades influenced by the captured intelligence data, thus removing federal oversight and allowing free rein in its operations.

I'm going to say that's a serious reach. Even changing how the question is asked to eliminate nonsensical attempts to answer this using set theory, the erroneous result persists.

According to the article, she's locked in the chamber. It says she's also permitted to go to her office, but isn't permitted to leave the capitol grounds. I'm guessing there's a guard stationed at one or more doors to permit her to go to her office or to the restroom.
As news of Collier’s protest widened, she was besieged by media requests, answering questions by phone on the House floor from journalists standing outside the locked chamber. A few dozen protesters gathered at the Capitol late in the evening to show her support.
