In broader terms I tend to think many of the most virulent critics of the SA may have fairly limited direct knowledge of the org & its people, but the strong, captivating & compelling narrative has wholly convinced them of the malevolence of the SA. So, the SA’s reputation is likely unrecoverable

No. I'm saying if they wish to criticise The Salvation Army re their relationship with LGBTQ+ folks, it damages their argument and credibility if they use a pic that suggests there are/were 'tens of thousands of New York soup kitchens'. Better to criticise accurately, with decent research & truth.
