Objectively, scouting is the responsibility of Scott Hunter - so attributing Jerry with the pitching development isn't very accurate.
Also fwiw - his 'success' with trades has been overblown too - he's acquired 2 players since 2020 that have generated more than 3 fWAR - both of whom aren't here.

Objectively, scouting is the responsibility of Scott Hunter - so attributing Jerry with the pitching development isn't very accurate.

He had ONE full season above 2 bWAR, was the same age, and same control.

Totally get that!
It does seem like the org’s focus has been SP/OF/3B so this in theory helped one without increasing finances.
But totally understand the Phillies looking to elevate Painter, and finding another way to send out money.
