The sacristy of Cleeve Abbey, Somerset. Part of the #CleeveAbbeyLongWeekend. This modern window may sit in the original C13 window surround. It would have held a tracery roundel. It's unusual. Mouse not seen one like this before #CleeveAbbey #Somerset #CleeveAbbeySacristy part I

Normally on a Saturday, Mouse would be saying farewell and moving on, but in a total break with tradition Mouse is staying put. There is so much to see at #CleeeveAbbey #Somerset it's worth an extra couple of days #CleeveAbbeyLongWeekend

It's late, but it's never too late for Mouse's #FridaysBitsAndPieces from #CleeveAbbey #Somerset. The bits and pieces Mouse didn't get to share in the week: The panel widows of the fratery with cusped #Ogee lights, bar tracery and quatrefoil piercings. Absolute #PerpyPerfection

It's late, but it's never too late for Mouse's #FridaysBitsAndPieces from #CleeveAbbey #Somerset. The bits and pieces Mouse didn't get to share in the week: Carved wall plate, bosses, corbels and angels with perfect Perpy tracery as a bonus. Yes. It is very, very fine work indeed

It's late, but it's never too late for Mouse's #FridaysBitsAndPieces from #CleeveAbbey #Somerset. The bits and pieces Mouse didn't get to share in the week: Wonderful C15 roof timbers with angels resting on corbels. This was once a wagon roof with plastered panels on laths

It's late, but it's never too late for Mouse's #FridaysBitsAndPieces from #CleeveAbbey #Somerset. The bits and pieces Mouse didn't get to share in the week: Graffiti on the C15 plaster of the fratery lobby. Daisy wheel and curiously thumb less hand (zoom in) #HistoricGraffiti

A peek into the corrodian's rooms of #CleeveAbbey #Somerset located under the fine fratery. These spaces were once sumptuously decorated #CorrodiansRoomsCleeveAbbey #AdoorableThursday

The venerable doors to the #DormitoryCleeveAbbey. The day entrance from the cloister. Do Mouse's eyes deceive her? Is that a medieval cat flap for the Abbey kitty? #CleeveAbbey #Somerset #AdoorableThursday

The monks dormitory #CleeveAbbey #Somerset

Pointed single lights, dating to the original C13 construction, each with its own window seat. Perhaps one window per monk #WindowsOnWednesday #DormitoryCleeveAbbey

The Abbey gatehouse #CleeveAbbey #Somerset for #Woodensday

Restored, if not rebuilt, but showing the wyndebeams that, although decorative, provide structural rigidity

The sacristy #CleeveAbbey #Somerset

Although Cleeve Abbey was a Cistercian religious house, the sacristy at least was finely decorated. Fragments of good encaustic tiles are still visible, 700 or more years since they were first laid down #CleeveAbbeySacristy #TilesOnTuesday

The sacristy #CleeveAbbey #Somerset

The sacristy was originally accessed from the south end of the south transept. A sacristy is used to store and care for eucharistic items, vestments and texts. In a church the sacrestan is responsible for these items #CleeveAbbeySacristy

Some for #TinyWindowTuesday. Barred, shuttered and unglazed, not just Mouse's accountants but the way medieval windows often were when glass was at a premium #CleeveAbbey #CorrodiansRoomsCleeveAbbey #Somerset
