It's gotten to the point that I'm fairly certain if any form of technology from the scifi genre - whether it be cybernetics, teleportation, replicators, etc - was announced to exist today, the world would squint and assume it'll be used in the worst ways possible.

The middle ground is for having AI be available to employees as a TOOL in industries that could benefit from it. Not for using AI as an excuse to haphazardly cut corners and lay off employees en masse. We've been saying this from the beginning but you don't listen because we aren't shareholders.

Extra - Idiocracy 100% predicted automation making people stupider, though. They just thought it'd be handicap-accessible automation would leave people without the knowledge to open a door and not people asking ChatGPT on how to make a sandwich.

3/3 - You got people suffering from systemic levels of poverty and inequality while our leaders can barely muster a single fuck to defend human rights. Meanwhile, social media algorithms are feeding content of dudebros and tradwives to children telling them that being stupid and cruel is a virtue.

2/3 - In reality, it turns out what was actually going to cause mass decrease in intelligence in the human population is not teaching generations about internet literacy and safety, technology outpacing legislation, and governments having either apathy or contempt towards their citizens.
