The 17th century 'Brahan Seer' known in Scots Gaelic as Coinneach Odhar, could foresee future events by looking through an Adder Stone. Although some suggest he was the invention of folklorist Alexander Mackenzie.

Queen of the Druids - in his book 'The White Goddess', Robert Graves proposed a mythical tree goddess named Druantia; her name deriving from 'drus', the oak. A goddess of fertility; plants and animals; of protection and creativity; of Druidry.

I'm currently writing a Folklore of Scotland. Here's a tale of the Faerie Cup of Mingary Castle. A magical vessel stolen from local faeries. It fills with whatever liquid the bearer wishes it to. Cheers!

The word ‘dryad’ is derived from the Greek word ‘drus’ meaning oak (origin of 'Druid'). Dryads were originally oak tree spirits, although over time they have come to represent all types of tree spirits and nymphs.
