Choosing Collective Action: My Day of Inconvenience
As an adjunct professor teaching courses in Womanism, Womanist Preaching, and Womanist Pastoral Care for Chaplains, I sought to develop an understanding of womanism as an ethical praxis. That is, how do womanists navigate the world day to day?

Just finished watching The Six Triple Eight on Netflix, and I’m in my feelings. This story reminded me of the power of Black women’s sisterhood and grit. I was also saddened by the reminder that Black women have to be superhuman-like to be appreciated. These women did the miraculous.

This month, my Pookie turned 31, and let me tell you, she’s got something within!
I marvel at her tenacity, self-awareness, and courage to be self-reflective. She knows herself and makes no excuses or apologies for the woman she’s been or the woman she’s becoming.
Happy Birthday to my Pookie 💜🦋

While we were out feeding persons in Dallas who are housing and food insecure I met brother James from FOI (the fruit of Islam) who asked how they could help us in our ministry. We had a nice conversation about our common theological perspectives. We’re in this together!

During my many years of work with women with histories of incarceration, sexual abuse, exploitation, trafficking, DV, and prostitution, I discovered 90% of them had an unhealthy theology of womanhood based on bad biblical teaching. Womanist Biblical interpretation helped me help them.

I invested in myself and completed certification to provide CEUs through The School of Global Citizenry. The way this world is set up it just makes good sense to position oneself with the ability to leverage multiple streams of income.

Don’t you think it’s time we STOP believing the lie! Black men do NOT hate Black women! Ask yourself, who benefits from that lie? Now, I do realize just because a Black man is married to a Black woman it doesn’t mean he loves or treats her well and vice-versa. We can talk about that later.

I’m grateful for the incredible opportunity to have heard Cole Arthur Riley in person on two occasions. Her work has deeply impacted my journey as a womanist practitioner and preacher, and experiencing her presence was both inspiring and affirming. I experience Cole as a modern day Howard Thurman.
