Halloween is one of our better traditions, because it allows people to explore aspects of their personality that they normally keep hidden. What could be scarier than the rejection of friends or allowing strangers to see who you really are??

Years after I wrote this joke, someone sent me an ad for a product which was essentially a hollow golf-club shaped tube used for peeing on the golf course. The inventors of this product have not sent me any money.

Sorry comics, my first love has always been the cinema. When I was five, I got to go see Godzilla 1985 in the theater. Godzilla was a hero of mine. Can you imagine how destroyed I was when the little tanks and jets attacked him. "Why??" I screamed. "Why are they shooting him??"

To paraphrase The Incredibles, "when everything is highlighted, nothing is."

Clichés. God love 'em. Other people call them tropes. To me, it's just a classic comics set-up. I can't tell you how many Far Sides I've seen set on a desert island, and as many times as we've seen the same beginning of the joke, there's always a new way to end it. That's the game.

If you write enough jokes, you probably end up with the ability to put them into broad categories. This is a "pull out to reveal" sort of gag. At the last moment, a new piece of information is dumped in your last that changes everything.

Double entendres were a source of inspiration for my comics, and I used to jot them down Monday through Sunday, but eventually this took it's toll.
