So let's see, who to choose in this debate, former combat pilot and full-time soldier congresswoman Duckworth vs. weekend warrior talking head Hegseth, who did a tour complaining because he could not kill any civilians he wanted. Hmm.

Well when it comes to Seal Team 6 using force, they are basically assassins. They do a lot of things, as shown by that mission to place a surveillance device in North Korea, but pure use of force, they are all about killing a target. Which is why they have zero place in drug enforcement.

It's about the lies chasing lies. In this case, the Trump admin claim that if you enter the country illegally, that is breaking the law, so-violent arrest and cruel incarceration. Judges push back. So Trump ICE says, we only arrest serious criminals. Shown to be a lie. Revert to lie one. Repeat.

Actually, those things that you list make me want to be onboard all the more. Though not online all the time. Or most of the time. Some small amount of the time.

And American journalists should follow suit and let X follow its natural telos to becoming minus 8Chan.

Oh, no need to quit, all he has to do is get a newspaper and stand in front of a camera reading it, doing some eyebrow stuff and making a few side comments. Why not just read their stuff right back at them?

In fairness, the larger number of parties in Germany (5 that matter at this point) means a party with ca. 25% support is, if not in charge, #2 and thus in charge of a coalition. Which makes it easier for the neo Nazi AfD to rise to power, as they are in the process of doing now, at 26%, #1 ranked.

I will only be satisfied when Fox News spins into the ground at full throttle and leaves only a smoking crater to show it ever existed.

Well I see it as Scientology for people who don't want to believe they are descended from space aliens.

It's great that Rep Luna has noticed the housing affordability crisis and private capital's role in that, but it's a fundamental truth that a leader should be factually correct to ensure long term success and credibility in a democracy.

Republicans have been at war with facts for decades.

He does, he had Trump's number right away, which is why it's even more strange that he is so clueless in dealing with groups of people to actually do democracy.

But he's also been terrible as France's national political leader. He rammed through stuff that was needed, like retirement reform, but was so arrogant and ham-handed that even his victories became defeats. Remember the time he told an unemployed gardner he'd get a job by walking across the street?

Because e.g. a state like Wyoming has just over half the population of the city of San Jose in California, but their voters have equal Senate clout power to all of California. They have under 600,000 citizens, to California's 39 million so each of their voters counts as if they were dozens. Unfair.

In California, a similar thing happened, but in reverse. However, it was done by voting on the change, approved at a 2:1 level, and only happened as a response to the very loud moves by the Republicans in Texas et al to gerrymander in order to keep a grip on power and keep support strong for Trump.

The World According to Garp was sort of a secret handshake when I was in high school. You knew you had met a member of your tribe when you could start laughing about the (admittedly very dark) humor and swapping scene descriptions.

I was scrolling while also keeping an eye on what the dog was up to and it took probably thirty seconds before I realized, wait, it's . . . a model RR. Impressive.

I'll bet Trump wears the medal to bed, in the shower, everywhere. He no doubt plans to be buried with it so he can show it to Saint Peter to get through the pearly gates. Saint Petes response will be three words, ending in Hell.

Weird that these guys figured out how to satirize themselves. I am waiting for FIFA to revive the player of the year award and give it to Trump to start the next year.
