So you have no data you can use for historical risk analysis? Awesome ….

Cool

Conceding your point changes nothing about my comment except what I call it. But yes, it’s a compatibility layer.

I’ll concede the point but it does not change anything about my comment except what I call it.

There are two kinds of emulators, software and hardware. You just successfully defined the later.

Please explain how Proton is not a Windows emulator.
December 22, 2024 at 3:23 AM
Neither? It was an explanation of what it is as the person who mentioned it seemed unsure. I don't like emulators because I don't like waiting for an open source community to address patches and updates just to play my game. I'd rather deal with Windows. That's my call and not a recommendation.

That Linux distro is indeed much better than Windows 11, but you still won't wipe your laptop and install it instead. You love The Sims too much.

My power and my curse is that I have the ability to anticipate unlikely risk but lack the motivation to address it.

It's still technically a Mozilla fork. The part where Google is butt hurt are the parts where they added proprietary things they want to keep like data tracking and Google ecosystem integration.

Proton is basically an emulator. It creates an interface layer for interpreting the Windows commands into something your Linux distro will recognize and support. It's only as good as its ability to correctly interpret those handshakes. Updates in either can require you wait on community.

Good. You were starting to look like a hippy.

Google was a search engine that pioneered building search indexes using probabilistic logic algorithms (AI). Chrome was originally a Firefox fork with which they skirted open source licensing issues by claiming Chrome is also open source. So technically Mozilla made Chrome.

If you can perfect a fading jumper to land the three point shot you are basically in god mode, even under the old rules. The only way to stop you is make sure you never keep the ball or someone at least 12" taller is guarding you.

This is also impacting residencies. Many people are leaving forced birth states for their residency because they cannot meet the standards required to become certified unless they can perform now illegal procedures.

Doctors all across the country are making this choice by leaving places where they cannot ethically practice medicine. Multiple women in Idaho are suing the state legislature because there are no obgyns in the panhandle anymore. Women must travel out of state for basic healthcare.

I am running windows and it sometimes needs patches and updates. Every now and then .....

All cloud backup services compress the photos resulting in degraded quality. I store originals on a physical disc to support the "let's get some professionally printed" use case.
December 21, 2024 at 8:47 PM
I put a recent backup on a physical hard drive and stored it in a fire safe. I am now worried I will not be able to open said safe if I need it. Before the safe, I was afraid I would misplace the drive.
