Is your child becoming a giant panda?

Panda's live from 1 food, low in nutrients

You can probably see where I am going with this:

A narrow range of foods creates problems:
- Nutritionally
- Psychosocially

My quirky superpower

Everyone has super powers.
Sometimes they are useful ones, sometimes just a bit weird

Mine is food pricing
I can tell you exactly what something would cost across supermarkets/markets

What’s your quirky superpower?

No extra time needed

Parents are often time poor
Which is why my programmes fit into family routines
- Lot of extra stuff to do - no
- Spending time you don’t have - no

I’ve seen this same infographic recently

And while I don’t disagree with the basic concept,
it may encourage parents to be overcautious

Baby is likely ready to eat family foods at 8-10 months
Smaller chunks, yes
But eat the chicken, carrots, potatoes

This is when biologically prepped to do this.

Lack of information is not the problem!

Drowning in information:
- Lacking direction
- Confused what to do first
- What to take on board
- What to ignore

Most people don’t need more info, they need:
- A guide
- A path
- A personalised plan
Book in and it’s yours!

Are you making this common mistake?

Many parents realise when out of home how their child struggles.

When at home, you make all sorts of accommodations for your child's eating and over time stop even being conscious about how much you are compromising.

Fruit crumble

Easy to make & to use less than perfect fruit

I used average pears & tinned peaches. The teen happily scoffed

Great for bruised apples/stone fruit
For the super hesitant, you can separate topping and fruit
& don’t even need to cook the fruit

The downside of hiding food

I totally get why this is tempting, particularly if you have a fussy eater, and they are not eating a wide range of foods.
However, I have three pieces of advice around this.
No.1 – don’t
No.2 – don’t
No.3 – still not a good idea!

Why gaming can be good!

Long story short
My teen goes to Athens this year to study classics (Classics in Greece)
Through his online game he met a uni professor who now mentors him:
-Helping him learn Greek
-Referring texts
He's even more passionate about his goals.
Would not have picked this ...

Child refusing food

This is common
But what you do in the face of refusal influences outcomes

Toddler? food refusal is normal
Keep offering foods 😊

Older child? food refusal = common for those who struggle to eat
But stop serving? Then you are confirming that the food has indeed been dropped.
