“Yes, Ma’am,” Mercy spoke into the phone, “I’m in the lab. The eggheads said the project is proceeding according to plan.” As her eyes landed on the glass container on the desk, she couldn’t help but smile. She wasn’t much interested in the ins and outs of her boss’s plan, nor understood what the technicians said to her a few minutes ago, but she knew one thing. The surge of power she felt now was better than anything. “Yes, he’s looking quite lively,” she answered the question. “I don’t know. Looks like he’s trying to say something,” came the next remark, accompanied with a smug smile. “Not that I can tell, it’s hard to see his minuscule face. Oh, and not to mention the glass is fairly soundproof,” she added with a satisfied laugh. “No, I don’t think so,” she replied. “They sounded quite confident. But one of them mentioned some unfavorable outcome. Yes, I told them you don’t want excuses. I’m sure they understood.” She listened to the person on the other end of the line, then she couldn’t stay silent as her gaze returned to the container. “Oh?”
