When it comes to the fans, I disagree. Too global of a reach
But when it comes to the owners, and the playing style dictated by analytics? Absolutely. Even the coaches- there was an Athletic article bemoaning the death of suits on coaches

Worth mentioning that Cavs/Spurs in 2007 was the lowest rated Finals at the time, even though it was LeBron’s first trip there. In response, David Stern engineered the trade that brought Garnett to Boston, in spite of him saying he’d never play there TWO WEEKS PRIOR
