Your instincts are spot on. The authors stated that they needed to expand the "Woody" descriptor to include "Pine" and maybe "Sandalwood".
"Woody" was the only choice that covered ALL woody aromas, including pine in this study - "Pine" was not one of the 25 descriptors.

Me too. It's my favorite aroma in cannabis. But Pinene-dominant flower is kind of rare around here (FLA). That could be why.

Volatile Sulfur Compounds (VSCs) were also not associated with specific aromas, and their variation among 91 samples was small.
We should probably start looking more closely at “The Other 75%” of mass in flower 🤷

If a patient tries it and finds it improves their quality of life in any way, that's perfectly well-founded for them. Just ask the parents of a child suffering from intractable epilepsy.
