Believe it or not I'm a gun owner, I got my license a while ago but never actually went to a range until today. I'd had bad starts at "cop ranges" in NYC, so I went up to Pioneer Shooting Center in Mt Vernon, staff were super chill, had no qualms showing a newbie the ropes, and I actually had fun!
